Pääbo Iriz

Portrait Pääbo Iriz

Born in Hässleholm, Sweden, Iriz Urve Iriz Pääbo is a filmmaker, actor, playwright, composer, illustrator and painter.

Iriz has directed, animated, edited and written music for the independent animated films I've Got a Little Brother (16mm, 1982); My Quills Click when I Walk (16mm, 1983); Bon Vivant (16mm, 1985); Wake Up/Wake Up (35mm, 1991); Leaving the Poisons Behind (35mm, 1991), which aired nationally in Canada and Australia and screened at international festivals including Los Angeles, Leipzig and Uppsala; and Tecknicly Inkorect (35mm, 1996), which was broadcast on Teletoon and screened at the prestigious Annecy and Goteborg festivals.

A noted visual artist, Iriz has participated in a number of group shows, the most recent at the Tom Thompson Gallery. She has had four solo shows between 1997 and 2000, including one at Northrop Frye Hall, at the University of Toronto's Victoria University.
